Nesco PC6-25P 6-Quart Electric Programmable Pressure Cooker
I am an avid cook, it seems I can hardly stay out of the kitchen. I am always preparing food, even if I’m not hungry. I’m not an expert chef, I just love to get other people’s opinion on my food concoctions. I use a wide variety of cooking utensils and machines. One I cannot live without is a pressure cooker. I use it to cook almost anything that takes time to cook. Unfortunately, I go through a lot of pressure cookers and over the course of the years I have found many disappointing pressure cookers. Naturally I was a little wary of buying the Nesco PC6-25P as I had never purchased this brand before. But I made sure to read up on all the features and I read many of the reviews on the cooker. It seemed to get great reviews from the people who know about cooking, plus I was impressed with the features and at the low price with free shipping from Amazon I couldn’t ask for a better deal.
Update: These pressure cookers are currently on sale through this link on Amazon.
When I purchase a product I expect it to live up to its expectations and promises. The Nesco PC6-25P claims to be a 6-quart cooker that can slow cook up to 9 and a half hours. It also claims to cut cooking times by up to 70 percent. If you have used pressure cookers before then you know that you can cook a wide variety of foods including chicken, ribs, roasts, rice, vegetables, stews and soups. This cooker will automatically switch to the Warm setting after the cooking is complete. It can have a delayed start of up to eight hours. This pressure cooker is great as you can just turn the settings to what you want and leave, there is no standing over the food as it cooks. Just come back when it’s finished. The lid and handles stay cool throughout the cooking process. I had to test it out as soon as I got it.
The first thing I wanted to test is what PSI this cooker could get to. It reached 15 PSI on the High setting and 5 PSI on the Low setting which is recommended for vegetables. This sounded excellent to me as I cook a variety of foods and need different pressure for different foods. There are many pressure cookers that claim to reach a certain pressure but then are unable to perform at that pressure. The Nesco PC6-25P had no problem performing at the High or Low pressure settings.
I had no doubt that the cooker could hold the entire 6-quarts as it claimed and this turned out to be true. I even tested the cooker against a roast I cooked in the oven and it cut the time by two thirds (66%), very close to the 70% the cooker claims. I tried it out with several of my own recipes for soup and they turned out about as perfect as they could turn out. I tested with a few online recipes as well just to see how it held up against other cookers. It cooked faster than most of the previous cookers I had tried and the food was delicious. I cooked vegetables on the Low setting and they turned out soft and scrumptious. By the end of my first few days of cooking I was very delighted with my new cooker. I love the setting that automatically puts my food on warm when the time is up. Now I can just casually cook and not have to worry about exact cooking times as the cooker ill keep the food warm after it’s finished cooking. This is an excellent setting and one I take advantage of constantly. I love the delayed start as well. I can set it in the morning before I leave for work to start cooking a few hours before I get home from work and then when I do finally get home from work I have a nice hot meal waiting on me! This cooker is great, it functions as it claims to and it’s a great deal. I recommend this to anyone from aspiring cooks to moms with hungry kids and even experienced cooks.
