It comes with a 6.33 qt 3-ply bottom stainless steel cooking pot, a stainless steel steaming rack, a user’s manual and recipe book. While labeled as a pressure cooker, its versatility extends so far beyond it being just a pressure cooker. It is also a slow and rice cooker, steamer, warmer and will also allow you to sauté or brown with ease.
It also has a control panel is large and quite simple to use. The IP-LUX60 had three adjustable modes and also has ten integrated settings. These include settings for meat/stew, sautéing, fowl, broths/soups, bean or chili dishes, porridge or congee, steaming, ne for multigrains, as well as the rice and slow cooker settings. If you aren’t ready to start cooking right then and there, consider using the timer that you may set to start at any time. It can delay cooking as much as a full 24-hours.I use the delay often when I’m at work and want to get something going that’ll be hot and waiting for me when I get home. There is a self-regulating keep-warm function with the delay timer as well. On the manual setting, it provides you with around 120 minutes of cook time as well as three different temperatures for sauté/browning and slow cooking.
Producing almost no noise, steam, heat, smells or spills, the IP-LUX60 is an incredibly wonderful and useful kitchen-friendly appliance. Since it is an electric appliance, this frees up a spot on top of the stove, which is helpful when entertaining and it takes a lot of the guess work out of how much heat to put on it while cooking. It’s a little bit bulky, didn’t quite fit in the spot I wanted it to go, but I made it work in another corner by doing a little rearranging.
When I first tried the IP-LUX60 out, I decided to try beans. To my astonishment, they went from dry to completely cooked in a half an hour or so. Next up, I wanted to do some shredded chicken tacos. I tossed in some chicken breasts, some taco seasoning, a chopped onion and a little dash of red pepper. Cooked to perfection in roughly 10 minutes; the chicken was so tender it barely took any effort to shred. Unfortunately, when I tried to use it as a rice cooker, it took way longer than my other rice cooker, so I probably won’t be using it for that. Also, I ran into a problem getting the cooker to pressurize with a stew. Got in touch with the distributor and we got the issue resolved by discovering that when a liquid is too thick with flour or corn starch, it won’t pressurize. I thought that to be pretty odd, but what can you do. The next time I tried a lighter soup and it pressurized quickly.
On any given week, I use this cooker multiple times. From what I’ve noticed, I use it at least once on Sunday to create a meal that’ll travel with me to work during the week and a bunch more times when preparing dinner or entertaining. I also find myself using the cooker in lieu of my stove a lot more. My only other complaint would be that the info the IP-LUX60 comes with, the directions and cookbook left me wanting more. It’s not really that well written or includes a whole lot of info but it is enough to get on started. If you don’t mind doing your own research on recipes, you can find a plethora of other ones, including ones that taste a bit better, elsewhere.
Cleanup is great; all that is really needed is a sponge to clean the pot. I used warm soapy water to clean it and it worked wonderfully. No stains left over and no hard scrubbing necessary.
